Great Outdoors - Week 3

This is the third week of our Great Outdoors challenge.  Have you entered your cards yet?

Our sponsor this month is our very own Nadia from Scrap Affair.  I had the opportunity to meet Nadia in person this week as she and her family are vacationing in Victoria, BC.  Nadia is offering the random winner 40% their entire purchase!

Don't forget to add GDT to your link if you wish to be considered for a guest spot. We would love to tell our readers more about you and showcase your beautiful work.

Anna-Karin from Layers of Ink has a wonderful card for you today.

I felt like doing a watercolour scene and also played around with some masking fluid for the flowers, grasses and the Birch trees. I was happy to discover that the masking fluid didn't affect the Jet Black Archival Ink on the tree at all.

The design team and I are looking forward to seeing your wonderful scenic creations.  Please enter your stamped or digi scenes that are finished projects (no ATC's or unmounted work).

You may enter up to 3 times and as many other challenges as you wish.  If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture of the piece and I will add it to one of our posts.  Click here to find Mr. Linky.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!!

The Great Outdoors plus a Guest Designer - Week 2

Happy Sunday everyone!

As this post goes out to blogland I am actually camping!  We are just getting up and starting a little campfire to enjoy while we drink coffee/tea and cook bacon (I know, the cholesterol!).  Of course this is fitting considering that our challenge is to create any scene showing the great outdoors.

This week we have a special guest designer, Tracey from Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Hello! My Name is Tracey Dampier and I live in Thunder Bay, Ontario, nestled in picturesque amethyst country. I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart for 26+ years. We have a wonderful son and daughter as well as a fabulous grand-daughter, 4 yrs and grand-son, 1 yr. I am also "Mom" to my 2 precious fur-babies, Angel and Zeus (a pair of 6 year old Shih Tzus).

For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed working on various crafts, having hand sewn a double bed sized quilt using my grandmother's material scraps when I was 13 years old (I still have it). I first caught the scrapbooking/papercrafting bug in 2000 and have been hopelessly addicted to it ever since. I began making cards in 2007, and I especially love to use flowers, ribbon, bling and lace as well as a bit of sewing from time to time on my cards and layouts. My newest "must have" supply is Copics.

As my hubby and I live on an acre of property, I draw a lot of inspiration for my papercrafting from my surroundings. In the summer I love to watch the assortment of birds that visit my feeders, butterflies in my gardens, bunnies and deer in our field and the squirrels that frolic in our trees. Winter time transforms my yard into a landscape of snow draped trees, twinkling lights and snowmen built by my grand-daughter. When I am not planning a new card, I am photographing my grand-children and fur-babies for new scrapbook pages. Thankfully, my husband is a very understanding man who encourages me to spend time working on this craft. When you have a moment, feel free to stop by my personal blog, Serene-Stamper and say 'Hello'. See you all in Blogland!
Hugs xo

Thank you Tracey.  Now on to our regular design team members who have created more amazing scenes for your inspiration.

August Theme - Anything in the Great Outdoors

Our theme for the month of August is "Anything in the Great Outdoors".

This is the time of year when many families, mine included, are out camping and having a wonderful time out in God's creation. Walking among the trees, seeing deer and squirrels, swimming in lakes, sitting around the camp fire, and making smores are all what I love about camping.

Your challenge this month, should you be home to craft, is to make a scene about the Great Outdoors!  Your scene must be stamped or created with digi's.  You must have something in the background and foreground of your scene.  Once your scene is created you may finish it off as a card, box, tag or anything as long as it is a finished project.

Here is what our wonderful design team came up with......

Nadia - Scrap Affair

Anna-Karin - Layers of Ink

Brenda - Floral Fantasies

Nancy - Crafting Passions

Anja - Stamping with Anja

Our challenge this month is sponsored by our very own Nadia and her store Scrap Affair.  Scrap Affair is offering a 40% off coupon code to the winner.  Nadia is so generous that she also offered the design team 25% off!  I checked out Nadia's store and found a treasure trove of goodies from paper to stamps to embellishments.  Please stop by Scrap Affair and give Nadia some love.

Don't forget you may enter the challenge 3 times and if you don't have a blog you may email me your creation and I will post it. You may enter your creation into as many other challenges as you wish.

Thanks for stopping by!

eMail Entries - Inside the Garden

Two of our stamping friends from Huddersfield England have sent us email entries for our "Inside the Garden" challenge.

First, there’s “An English Country Garden” from Margaret – this was done in watercolours, using stamps from Art Impressions, Clarity, Hobbyart, plus a magazine cover freebie of uncertain origin!  I must confess to drawing inspiration from Brenda’s card with the silhouette ladies (“English Garden Party”) and have used her technique of decoupaging the blossom on the overhanging branches – thanks, Brenda!

From Dawn, there’s “Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary”, using stamps from IndigoBlu’s “Vintage Nursery Rhymes” set, plus foliage from Inkylicious and a birdhouse which was another magazine cover freebie.  This was Dawn’s first attempt at an easel card.

These are wonderful creations ladies!  Thank you for entering our challenge.

Stop by Saturday after 8:00 AM Pacific time to find out who won the challenge and who we picked for the top three.  Sunday we will announce the next challenge theme and sponsor.

Have a Great Day!
